promptness

The hardest part about writing my paper is being prompt. I can understand prompts, unfortunately, I'm not good at following them in a timely fashion. Nearly everything I've turned in in this class has been days to weeks late, this blog post included. That said, I think my work itself is alright, though I should definitely work on promptness in the future. Writing my paper was harder than I thought it would be. It wasn't hard, necessarily, just time consuming. That said, I really did try to do it right. My paper was far from perfect but I did put in earnest effort in writing it.

I didn't do so well on my presentation. I didn't do horribly--I certainly didn't have to run out crying or covered in vomit (mine or anyone else's), and I went first, which took balls guts, but I still think I did okay considering. I'm glad this paper is over. On the bright side, I learned a lot about the importance of time management, and of editing. I'll be sure to make smarter decisions concerning it in the future. I legitimately did enjoy this class, though I think I might enjoy only having an hour of class on m/w/f even more.

How this essay stuff is going

Not too well, not too well. Luckily, it's a research topic I've worked on a lot in the past in various other assignments, so I at least have enough rudimentary language down to where it hopefully won't be entirely too complicated to do. I already had to do two papers in the past two days, which I hopefully made a decent grade on. I've really been behind lately. Bad few weeks, I suppose. I missed the annotated bibliography. Which is silly, considering that I had the five sources, I just didn't want to bother annotating them and putting them in MLA format.

I'm surprisingly good at MLA format. Or, at least, I've been using it for so many years that it's no longer an absolute egregious mess trying to use it. I need to go to the library this weekend and do some research. It's hard to find credible print resources, because most of the good research is repressed by the government and the rest is anti-drug propaganda based on 1970's marketing ads instead of the actual fact. Hopefully though I should be able to put together a comprehensive case. I'm not quite sure what my thesis statement will be. But, since I got that large chunk of work that was hanging over my head, I should be able to do better...hopefully, anyway.

Conformity

There are many things people will do for the sake of conformity, to fit into society. Every person is guilty of it. I "conformed" to my societal expectations by going to college. I "conformed" to the trend of technology by starting a blog. And I "conformed" to my Library Science class by writing a blog based around my library science assignment.

It's hard to keep up to date in this class because of how much other shit I have going on in my life right now that are infinitely more important than school. "But Winston! (Not my real name)" You might be saying. "School is important for getting a good job!" Yes, yes it is. Not because it actually instills in you the skills you need to be more intelligent and a more capable person to ensure you get a harder job that provides better pay, but only because a degree is expected on most resumes. For that, and no other reason, I am in school. But, I digress. So I'm writing (Well, not yet, but I will be soon) this paper on the health effects of marijuana. It's to be a scholarly article. It'll be hard to find print writings that are up to date. There is a lot of credible medical research but due to the grossly overwhelming oppression of the machine, it's buried under bureaucratic bs and miles and miles of laws that serve no purpose other than keeping the current fatcats in power. Um, further digression...Anway, what I'm saying is, I really hope I can find credible sources. I think other than that, it won't be too hard. Coming up with a comprehensive thesis won't be hard either. I had better start soon, anyway. The deadline is coming up.
